Experience

I have a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and French from Indiana University, and I am working on a master's degree in English Literature at the University of Colorado in Boulder. I have taught undergraduate students in literature, and I tutor English topics, including reading and writing. I have also helped students prepare for the SAT and GRE tests for analytical and verbal writing. Gaining a deeper understanding of English leads to effective critical thinking and communication skills. These skills in particular are important for individuals to become problem solvers in the business world and other areas of life. I think that my main objective is to determine each student's learning style and then develop teaching strategies that work with the individual. Once I determine the best learning style for my student, I make sure that I break down each concept for them and teach them how to solve problems so that they develop the skills to do it themselves later on when I'm not around to help them. Basically, I teach the what, how, and why. When I'm not teaching or learning something new myself, I can be found hiking, painting, or checking out art.
