Hobbies

I believe in a caring, creative, and rigorous approach to tutoring. I work to help my students embrace the whole process of learning: the struggle to master difficult material, the freedom to make mistakes, the joy of discovery, and the pride felt in doing good work. I tutor students of all ages (although the majority of students I work with are elementary ages) and specialize in math and English. I recently graduated from Hunter College’s School of Education with a 3.95 GPA. I now tutor and teach full-time. In addition to private tutoring, I teach 3rd grade in a general education classroom. I meet students in their homes or at coffee shops, parks, and libraries. During our first meeting, we'll discuss your academic goals, interests, strengths, weaknesses, etc., and then we'll create a plan for our future work together. The lessons themselves vary from demanding study sessions to playful math games and creative brainstorming activities. I live Park Slope and would be glad to commute about 30 min each way via public transportation for a one-hr session (and up to 45 min each way for a lesson that is 2 hrs or longer.) Several of my younger students meet me at the Central Library of the Brooklyn Public Library, and it's a wonderful place to work if you live in the area and are looking for a child-friendly tutoring location outside your home.
