I've developed a huge passion for languages, and I have traveled to a number of countries, where I've taught French and English. I'm skilled in tutoring introductory, intermediate, and advanced French (levels I-IV, including Advanced Placement Language and Culture). I've also aided students in developing effective study and performance strategies for the ACTs (in the areas of Math, Reading, Science, Writing, and English). It's important to stimulate student interest when one teaches a new language. As a result of my experiences as a teacher and a learner of languages, I've come up with a lot of different techniques for doing this. I've also had a great deal of exposure to different ways of learning as a result of my experiences in higher education. I've learned that teachers need to adapt to students and their various needs, skills, and weaknesses. One of my most memorable teaching moments was when I acted as a guide with Philmont Scout Ranch in NM. I showed scouts how to ride, care for, and prep for extended trips on horseback in the mountains. This experience really solidified my love for teaching. Aside from teaching and work, I love horses, hiking, camping, art history, traveling, and water-skiing.
