Experience
For more than 10 years, I have been working with students on their science and math skills, as well as helping to prepare them for standardized tests like the ACT and SAT. I have a history of successfully improving the test scores and grades of my students, and have helped "C" students become "A" students over time. One of my strengths as a tutor is my seemingly unlimited amount of patience, part of which I credit to having a seven-year-old son! I also make a point of encouraging questions from my students. I believe that all questions are good questions. I encourage students to let me know if they don't understand part of a lesson, and tell them that we can go over things more than once if it helps to clarify the subject. Also, since everyone learns information differently, we may look at the material from a different perspective in order to make things clearer. To me, there is no better feeling than seeing my students have an "Aha!" moment when something difficult becomes clear. I have no problems working with students of any ability or age! When I'm not tutoring, I love to travel, take bicycling trips, ref and coach soccer, play basketball, and spend time with my son.
