I received my bachelor's from the State University of New York at New Paltz and two master's degrees in Philosophy and English Literature. I am a substitute teacher and I have taught at every level from elementary to high school. I was also a Special Education volunteer in a middle school class for six years. During that time I tutored the students individually. I believe that teaching requires that the student be actively participating and generously encouraged to succeed. I encourage my students to not just learn their subjects, but to establish their own critical opinion regarding them, so that they can present a thoughtful understanding and evaluation of each subject. I also do my best to make learning fun and creative.I teach Reading, Writing, Essay Editing, Phonics, Literature, Grammar and Mechanics, College Essays, Study Skills and Organization, Special Education, Advanced Placement English Language and Composition, Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition, Philosophy, Public Speaking, Religious Studies, Elementary Math, Math, English, Test Prep, Social Sciences, and Social Studies. I can also help you improve your score in SAT Critical Reading.In my off hours I like to read, and go to concerts. I enjoy photography as a hobby.
