Experience
I doubled majored in Psychology and General Childhood Education at Brooklyn College, where I obtained a double bachelor's degree. I then went on to earn my master's degree in Childhood Special Education. I have had experience tutoring numerous students. My first opportunity came in the Hunger College Learning Lab, where I tutored a student with special needs, who was in the second grade. I began by conducting academic assessments using a variety of techniques known to special education professionals. Once I received the results, I created a learning plan that took advantage of the student's strengths, and targeted their areas for improvement. I have also had experience working with other elementary aged students, both those in special education and in mainstream classrooms. I am available to tutor elementary aged students, including those with a wide variety of special needs, in all the required elementary subjects, and can also tutor high school and college students in English. I enjoy creating lessons that provide hands-on learning. I believe in positive reinforcement as a method of providing a student with the opportunity to gain the self-confidence they need to achieve success in their academic and personal endeavors. In my free time, I enjoy reading, especially history, and crocheting.
