Experience
I earned my undergraduate degree in biology with a special focus on health and nutrition and my graduate degree in education. After graduation I became a classroom teacher where I have gained invaluable experience in planning and creating a variety of short and long range learning activities that are based on concrete learning objectives and which utilize a variety of learning approaches and methodologies. I am well versed in the major educational philosophies and in the process needed to carefully monitor a student's progress. I've also had many years of experience working individually with students as a personal tutor. I tutor a variety of courses, including algebra 1 & 2, reading, elementary math, reading, algebra 3/4, math, English, and middle school math. I also work with students who are preparing for a standardized exam such as the ISEE, SSAT, TACHS, or SHSAT. I love being able to work individually with each student as a tutor. It is extremely important for all students to receive an individualized education but that isn't always possible in a classroom setting. Tutoring gives those students who need a little extra help or who perhaps need to be taught in a slightly different way the opportunity to thrive.
