Experience
I have two enjoyable years of experience tutoring students privately. I have experience tutoring a variety of standardized tests, and I have found that preparing a student for a standardized test is often more about being prepared for the examination process rather than the specific academic ability of the student. Standardized exams often miss assessing the student's true academic knowledge because the student is lost in the test process. To help the student during the standardized exam, I teach test taking strategies and provide the student with the necessary tools to successfully navigate the exam and manage the time during the exam. I believe that providing the student with a well-rounded skill-set will produce a more proficient exam taker. I have also assisted many students in the last two years with their applications for college. Currently, I am a student studying computer science at Cornell and I also work with students in math and computer science. While tutoring students in these subjects, I choose to teach an in-depth understanding of theory and how they function. I have found that proof-based teaching on theorems is the best strategy for teaching these subjects and gives the student the best understanding in the subjects.
