Private tutor in Brooklyn, NY

Education

- University of Southern California, Ph.D in Media Arts (School of Cinematic Arts). - Swarthmore College, BA in Philosophy with Highest Honors

Experience

I tutor students from 6th grade to the undergraduate level in three subjects: - French language, conversation, and culture - writing, reading comprehension, literature, composition, and critical thinking skills in general, whether a student needs help for a course, SAT prep or college admissions essays. - as a film and media artist, I also teach animation, video production and graphic design. I have personal experience navigating the competitive process of academic applications. I graduated from Swarthmore College in philosophy with highest honors and just completed a Ph.D at the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts. I scored in the 99th percentile of the verbal section of the SAT. I've also been the recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship to conduct research on globalization in Russia. I have four years of experience as a graduate instructor for undergraduate courses in media studies, literature, and media technology. I am a native French speaker who grew up in France and has completed doctoral research in French philosophy and art. I also have extensive experience working with students to improve the writing, textual comprehension, and argumentation skills that form the foundation they need to succeed in all academic disciplines. As a media artist and filmmaker, I have a wide range of software and media production expertise that I would love to impart to aspiring storytellers and designers, as well as to students seeking to gain a competitive edge with enhanced presentation and communication skills. As a dedicated tutor, I aim to develop students' self-efficacy as lifelong learners and achievers not only by delivering specific knowledge but also by working with them to build the time management and self-motivation skills that are crucial to their success in college and beyond. I believe each student has his or her own specific blend of talent and interests, which the individual attention of a tutor can help sharpen and bring into focus. Together, we can identify and solve academic difficulties as they emerge.
