Experience
After working as a public school teacher in New York City for more than 25 years, I have taught all elementary school subjects as well as language arts to those in middle school. Working with so many children from such diverse backgrounds I truly believe that each child has the ability to learn, as long as they are taught at their level. I have extensive experience modifying lesson plans to help struggling learners succeed and even get ahead. I've had the privilege of working with students of all academic levels and am confident in my ability to reach each child I work with. I currently tutor students in elementary math, reading, writing, phonics, literature, math, English, high school and college level English, and comparative literature. I also enjoy helping students prepare for standardized exams such as the SAT and the ACT. I have been tutoring students individually for the last six years and I have been impressed with the amount of success students are capable of when they have the ability to work with a teacher in a one on one setting. I love taking the time to learn about each of these students and developing learning plans that will specifically target their learning needs and help them reach their academic potential.
