Experience
In terms of teaching, I have learned what works and what doesn't in the classroom over the course of 22 years of being a student, so I feel more than prepared to be an educator. While I was working on my Ph.D., I found that, even though I was studying a topic thoroughly, I was still going to need help in order to succeed. I believe tutoring is my chance to help pass along my knowledge and help students succeed. When teaching physics, I believe it's important to make sure to show that many other subjects overlap within a subject, and that it's necessary to know all of the subjects well in order to be proficient in any of them. Because of this, I feel very comfortable teaching not only physics, but other subjects as well.I focus on balance, which allows me to better prepare others for tests and exams. I have also learned that in order to help someone, you have to listen to figure out exactly why they are struggling, rather than just guessing. I have become more patient, realizing that not everyone is going to learn at the same pace. I like to ask questions rather than give answers to help my students figure things out for themselves. In my spare time, I enjoy exercising, reading, and baking.
