I attended both Swarthmore College, and Harvard Graduate School of Education. My tutoring specialties are mathematics and English. I am available to assist students with elementary math, as well as Algebra, Geometry, and Statistics, as well as general reading and writing techniques. I also have experience helping students prepare for standardized testing such as the SAT, ISEE, GRE and ACCUPLACER exams. I can help students taking these exams to improve both their subject matter knowledge and their general study skills. I have plenty of experience in the field of mathematics, and have spent personal time furthering that knowledge. I was involved in extra-curricular mathematics clubs, and have also taken supplementary courses in subjects such as math history and number theory. I use this additional knowledge to help my students understand how fascinating, gratifying, and useful mathematics can be. I can also help students who are struggling with writing and reading. I have many methods students find useful, including the use of free writing and story maps. I believe in understanding each student's character and learning styles, and I work hard to tailor my sessions to best benefit the student while keeping the material relevant. Students are able to grow in confidence, and thus able to succeed in their academics.I enjoy mathematics in my free time, too.
