Mathematics is one of the loves of my life, and it would be my pleasure to help children to come to see the beauty of numbers and equations.I actually earned a mathematics degree, and possess 24 months of expertise teaching the subject in a classroom setting. My skill set is such that I can assist students who are having a hard time so that they get to the point where they can do well in their math classes. While working as a teacher in a middle school, I realized that much can be achieved by informing students about the reason math is critical, and letting them know how math is relevant here and now. By doing so, I found that it is possible to get students to actually come to appreciate math, and when this happens, students are less likely to be intimidated by it.I also discovered that taking topics that students are having issues with and breaking them into smaller chunks that are easier to manage can help students to better understand the material.When I'm not teaching or tutoring, I enjoy reading, watching sporting events, boating, and hiking.
