Education

I graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts in English (Honors) with a minor in history as well as a Bachelor of Education with specializations in English Literature and Language Arts and Middle School Methodologies.

Experience

I have taught the core subjects (English, Social Studies, Math, Science) at the middle school level (grades 6-9) in addition to teaching several math strategies and support classes. Also, I have been employed by the University of British Columbia as a teaching assistant which involved guest lectures, teaching essay writing strategies and tutoring as well as grading assignments.

Hobbies

I am a father of four children ranging from high school to preschool. From British Columbia, Canada, we naturally enjoy the outdoors and a continued fascination with the world and everything in it and around it. Before I began my teaching career I spent many years volunteering with community youth organizations where I coordinated regular activities on a variety of scales. While my specialty is the humanities and I will always have a special place in my heart for stories and literature, I am also a generalist and I am continually interested in how different disciplines are connected how those connections can help our learning. My classrooms are characterized by a sense of community and curiosity where questions are welcomed and encouraged. Above all, I wish for my students to have the confidence to succeed both academically as well as in life.
