Education

I am a Mathematics major at UCLA, set to graduate with honors in spring of 2016.

Experience

I have experience tutoring in a vast array of topics: ~K-12 Math (including AP Calculus) ~College Pre-algebra, Algebra, Pre-calculus ~College Calculus 1,2,3, and Multivariable ~Linear Algebra and Differential equations. ~College and high school physics ~College and high school chemistry I have taken the upper division equivalent of all of these math subjects, and this helps me provide a better tutoring experience in a few ways. First, I have a deeper understanding of the subjects than is obtained in an introductory course, which allows me to provide insight on the more challenging problems one comes across. I also can explain WHY certain results are true, rather than enforcing rote memorization (although there is certainly a place for memorization!). Finally, I can present multiple solution and explain steps in different ways for many problems, which can be vital when a student is stuck on a part of a problem. I greatly enjoy helping others learn: there is nothing more satisfying to me than the "light bulb moment", when a student has that moment of understanding. I have a passion for math, and I like to think that this rubs off on the people I help. I truly believe that anyone can succeed in math and science; the only requirements are patience and determination, and I do my best to inspire these qualities in my students.

Hobbies

I've played the guitar for 10 years, and would love to teach you to play too! I enjoy watching TV, playing soccer, working out, and puzzle games, like su doku, Rubik's Cube, and crosswords. If any of these interest you, please feel free to ask me about it! I am more than willing to share my experience in recreational subjects as well. Let me give you an example. I once had a student ask me to teach him to solve a Rubik's cube. We met in an informal setting, and I taught him my own (very basic) strategy for solving the puzzle. Today, he can solve it far faster than I, and attends competitions for speed-solving Cubes!
