Graduate of Wesleyan University with a B.A. in Sociology and Latin American Studies I was on Wesleyan University's Dean's List for all four years of my undergraduate education. I graduated from Wesleyan with a GPA of 3.85.
Experience
I have two years of tutoring and mentoring experience in writing, poetry, reading, and reading comprehension. I led a weekly writing workshop at Wesleyan in which I helped students develop and edit their creative writing. My debut novel is being published by Penguin Random House in 2017. I also have several essays and poems published in print and online. My slam poem "Shrinking Women" has five million views on YouTube. I run workshops on using poetry as a form of self-expression and self-empowerment. I have given poetry readings and talks at a range of institutions including Boston College, Wesleyan University, the Oregon Psychiatric Association, and several high schools. I worked as an Editorial Intern at the book publishing house Farrar, Straus and Giroux during the summer of 2015.
