I grew up in a multicultural family in China, where I attended high school in Tianjin. Living in China has provided me with the opportunity to become fluent in Mandarin. It has also given me the love to learn more about China, both culturally and linguistically. Learning to read, write, and understand Chinese was difficult, but through my efforts, I have gained the necessary skills and perspective to help assist my students who are interested in Chinese.Upon moving to the United States, I got my bachelor's degree in behavioral neurosciences, and then I received an M.S. in Physiology from Georgetown University. While an undergraduate, I was allowed to attend Chinese literature courses at the graduate level. I also worked as a teacher's assistant, and I acted as a translator and interpreter for a company back in Tianjin. Both my experience and my background equip me to teach students of various levels how to speak and write Chinese.Other than Chinese, I enjoy engaging in physical activities such as running, volleyball, and water polo. I also like to be outdoors, where I can go camping or hike along nature trails. When I am home, I like to cook, read books, and watch movies.
