Experience

I know firsthand that school can be challenging, but a student is capable of excellence with the right support and encouragement. I believe that the right tutor can help a student make enormous strides towards academic success and in improving his or her test-taking skills. I studied literature and history during my undergraduate education at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Those are the two subjects that I'm the most passionate about, and while I know those classes can be hard to grapple with, I believe that I can help my students see the same old material from a new viewpoint. As a tutor, I'm prepared to help my students in a variety of courses, including reading, writing, psychology, history, geography, college application essays, and preparation for the ACT, SAT, and GED. Outside of tutoring, I also work with groups of students as a substitute teacher and one-on-one with students as a guitar instructor. Those two jobs have also taught me new strategies and techniques for patiently and successfully engaging with my students. When I'm not working with my students in the classroom, I enjoy hiking, photography, creative writing, and listening to music.
