Experience
I attended Barnard College and SUNY College and am very involved with teaching and tutoring. I most enjoy meeting new students and sharing their motivation to learn and understand new subjects. My strengths are in music, ELL/ESL, cultures, and language learning. Music is central to my life and I am currently a performing violinist and music teacher. I travel a lot and have spent many years learning and living with other cultures. I have lived in Beijing and Quito, Ecuador and learned to speak Chinese and Spanish. I was a tutor for students in China, helping them learn English, and was fascinated by the entire process. It is a difficult and challenging endeavor to master a foreign language and I look forward to offering my extensive experience in a tutoring role. In my years as a music instructor, my experience includes teaching violin, cello, and bass, in addition to music theory and history. I am also an IB examiner which allows an inside look at the amazing musical talent in the world. The IB music course is very involved and I enjoy being a part of tutoring it and sharing its rewards with dedicated students. My hobbies include reading, yoga, hiking, cooking, and traveling.
