Experience
I am an elite tutor and educator in New York City with more than 20 years of experience. I was a well-rounded student throughout my own academic history, and began teaching children in my hometown of Houston as a high-school student. Then, as an award-winning student at Harvard and Princeton, I was a faculty-selected peer tutor in a variety of subjects. Most recently, I taught in Los Angeles for a prominent Hollywood family as a full-time traveling instructor for a boutique private school headquartered in NYC, and before that, I held a position as a painting professor at the prestigious Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland. What differentiates me from the other numerous tutors in the city is first, a comprehensive pedagogy developed and honed through years of diverse teaching experience, and second, my holistic investment in my students’ growth as life-long scholars and contributing individuals. My goal is never simply to get through the next exam, paper or even the school year. I work with the student to (1) identify long-term goals, (2) develop effective tools, and (3) master their implementation before moving onto other growth areas so that the student can always be improving. To that end, my responsibilities as an educator go beyond the hour or two that I spend with the student in his or her home: I read the books, meet with teachers, communicate with learning coordinators, and work to gain insight into the cultures of the schools with which I collaborate, with most of my experience at Dalton, Horace Mann, Buckley, Columbia Prep, among others. I work with families to understand their philosophies and to provide insightful updates on their children’s progress. My gift is that I am excellent with children of all ages; my dedication is that I care a great deal about my students.

Hobbies
I like painting and drawing. I read a great deal and am writing my first book, which is a memoir about my family. In my free time, I love hanging out with my friends-- it's simple: we just meet up at restaurants and chat, and walk in the park. Sometimes I do yoga.
