Michael G.
Private tutor in Brooklyn, NY
Education
I am a graduate of Williams College, where i received a B.A. in French, cum laude. Studying a foreign language naturally makes one reconsider one's own, and though I already had a good grasp of grammar, my study of French—and Latin—built on that foundation. This allows me not only to recognize mistakes in grammar, syntax, and usage, but explain how to correct them.
Experience
I am a freelance writer and editor with past experience teaching the verbal section of the SAT. My combined scores on the old test were 1400. As an indication of my writing proficiency, I provide a link to a recent article: http://www.dance-enthusiast.com/features/view/Dancer-to-School. I enjoy working with students and showing them how to improve their reading and writing skills. I can help them not only to prepare for the SAT, but also on their essay for college applications. Much of my writing focuses on the arts, but I have also worked in business journalism. Recent clients include Consumer Reports and CBS MoneyWatch.

Hobbies
I take pride in being a patient and positive instructor who can demonstrate to students ways to refine their writing and make progress in reading comprehension. I am articulate and expert at communicating with a student in such a ways that allows them to make discoveries of their own, which reinforces the points I am attempting to get across.
