2150 on SAT 800 on SAT writing 5 on AP US History exam Accepted to first choice college on the strength of my essay I tutored middle school students in Harlem in conflict management and taught Hebrew School to elementary school students for four years. I have been helping peers and younger students with their essays and college essays in an informal setting since I was a junior in high school. I am a freelance writer living in Brooklyn and have been published in several publications, including the New York Times and jewcy.com. My plays have been performed in New York and Los Angeles. On the side, I create content for a PR agency (writing brochures for Broadway musicals) while I finish up my last few credits of school part-time. I derive great joy from helping others edit their essays, particularly college essays. I know--I remember--that it can feel excrutiating to write yet another 500-word essay about "Why Tulane" or "My role in my community," but I like to see college essays as an opportunity to talk about yourself--something at which most people can excel with a little coaching. My strength as a tutor lies in helping people discover their own voice. I majored in American history in college. I wrote my thesis on student activism in the 1960s but am able to tutor on any time period. Most of my coursework was English and history related. I am also available for other miscellaneous organizational, reading and writing help. I am young enough to remember the stresses and frustrations of being in high school, but am almost finished with a rigorous degree at a top school. I connect well with high school and middle school students and enjoy getting to know someone not just as a student and worker, but as a person.
