Experience

Over the course of the last 16 years, I have had experience with a variety of exams given to middle school and high school students ranging from 7/8 grade ELA exams to the English Regents exam given in high school. Not only have I prepared more than 1500 students during that time, I have also had the opportunity to grade those very exams. That has given me the advantage of being able to share what the expectations and criteria are for success on those exams. As a father of two children within the NYC school system, I understand the value of providing children with additional opportunities to receive extra help beyond the classroom. I believe wholeheartedly that students who have the ability to receive individualized instruction often fare better than those who do not. The following is a brief description of my experience as an educator: 13 years of 7th and 8th grade English Language Arts within the New York City Department of Education 3 years of 9th and 10th grade English Language Arts within the New York City Department of Education 10 years of tutoring and grading for 7th and 8th grade NYS English Language Arts exams

Hobbies

I am a lover of theatrical arts. I have produced and directed over 15 shows with both middle school and high school students. During those years, I have been able to expose students to the inner workings of theatrical productions. My students have had the opportunity to create their own shows as well as attend professional performances ranging from Cabaret to Phantom of the Opera. In my spare time, I am an avid photographer. I have conducted photography lessons at the middle school level.
