Experience
I attended Wesleyan University, where I earned a B.A. while working in the College of Social Studies. I have certificates in International Relations, Social/Cultural/Critical Theory, and South Asian Studies. As a result of earning the Toyolan Fund grant toward the study of diaspora and transnationalism, I was able to travel throughout India to engage in independent study and interview families. This helped me develop my passion for storytelling and oral history. I care deeply about helping students to create and pursue their goals, which is much more important to me than test-taking and lesson plans. I've tutored and taught students since high school, having had to create unique curricula for elementary school and high school students in the areas of test prep, college essay skills, and character building. Being a successful educator, for me, is dependent on how well I respond to a student's individual needs and desires. I base my teaching on my own experiences as a student and what's worked well for me. I believe in specialized attention, storytelling, and being relatable. I can tutor students in all kinds of subjects, including History, Science, Math, Politics, Literature, Anthropology, A.P. courses, etc. Outside of educating, I'm also a musician and a writer. I'm planning to pursue graduate level study, and I am excited to come out with my first album.
