Experience
I mainly tutor in the fields of English and writing. I started out my college education with an MFA degree in Creative Writing. I later earned a master's degree in Education. The schools I attended were Stony Brook University and Brooklyn College. I worked for three years teaching high school English for the New York City public school system. I have written poems and literary analysis which were published in several journals including American Book Review, Washington Square, and Eleven Eleven. I try to teach students to work hard and persevere in their writing efforts until they reach their full potential. I believe in the philosophy that a writer must use patience and discipline in order to maximize their communication skills. All authors should carefully choose each word for its impact on the reader just as an artist chooses colors with which to paint. Using this approach to writing has worked well enough for me to get my work published. Poetry especially relies on every single word for rhyme and content. I believe I can tutor my students to develop the same techniques I use for writing. A few other subjects I can tutor include literature, grammar, Spanish, and some of the standardized test prep. I like to engage in photography and baseball for relaxation.
