I realize each student learns a different way and I see my tutoring them as an opportunity to use their style of learning to aid them even better. Whenever I can, I incorporate music and film when I feel as though it is appropriate to the subject that is being covered. I think that with a movie or music, this is a great tool for students trying to learn a foreign language to be able to relate this with whatever language they are studying. When I tutor students in English or History, I incorporate my passion for world history and literature to encourage students to read more into the material. If a student can learn what is important about events for history or what an author is trying to say in a book, then they will be able to apply this information they have learned when they are faced with a test. When I teach pupils how to write, I like to approach the lessons in a structured way, meaning we cover the main concepts like idea, speaker, and the audience. I understand that when some students are faced with tests or essays, it can be stressful, and that's why I try to give them the tools to help build their confidence, as well as realizing that having anxiety is perfectly normal; just remember the materials I have taught them and apply it head on.
