Experience
For me, it's a dream to teach Spanish. Simply put, I LOVE the language. I love the intricacies and textures the language has to offer. I am a professional general and medical translator of the Spanish language, and I have written op-ed pieces and articles for El Diario/La Prensa, the NYC metro area's primary Spanish language newspaper. As a result of my experience, I know a great deal about the grammatical and oral nuances in the language.I have been privately tutoring high school students, college students and professionals for about seven years. I attended Hunter College, studying Latin American and Spanish literature. I was able to immerse myself in culture and study at universities in both Mar del Plata, Argentina and Madrid, Spain. My philosophy is to make Spanish relevant and practical to my students. To me, language is about expression that is practical. It means nothing to study theory and grammar without making the language work in day-to-day living situations. I make an effort to involve the interests of my students in our studies, so that they are always interested in what they are learning--and I use some of my unique brand of humor as well.In my free time I enjoy watching sports games, particularly baseball, tennis, and basketball. I'll also watch a marathon or Law & Order or a funny comedy that's full of action.
