Experience
I have been working as a math tutor in college of Staten Island since 09/2008. I mainly tutor for remedial math, college algebra, pre-calculus, calculus/business calculus, probability&statistis. I also have worked in IS 49 as a teaching scholar for the past 2 years, I assisted 6th--8th graders in class assignment for math. Since the beginning of this year, I have been working as a private tutor for some high school students in math( SAT/Regents). My tutoring technique is to teach students to recognize the structure/pattern for each type of math problems. Once they recognize the structure of the problem they would be able to apply the correct method to solve this particular problem. If students face more complicated problem, the I would teach them how to break down the problem into pieces. Sometimes one complicated problem could be many topics mixed up, so breaking down the problem&structure recognization could be helpful to students. Another technique is to use daily examples to address to the math problems such that students could understand much better for the mathematical concepts. I found students could remember the topic easily and they do well on those types of problems.
