One of the number one motivators for me pursuing an academic career is the chance to engage with Spanish students and teachers of the future. I aim to give students the tools necessary to excel in skill and competency as Spanish speakers, in the areas of grammar, dialogue, and presentations. One of my goals as a tutor is to effectively communicate core content to my students. Another goal of mine as an educator is to trigger a shift in behavior and encourage learning. I would like to teach my students critical thinking skills, skills to help them learn for a lifetime, and strategies to solve problems. It is my belief that lessons should be centered around the student, and instructors and learners should contribute 50/50 during the process of learning. It is my duty to use my knowledge to give students the tools they need. Moreover, it is my duty to ensure students know how to discover the resources necessary to answer questions they may have. It is possible for a child to learn, despite their situation. Teaching is the number one service that should be given to learners in this technological society. Educating should be about training students how to process new information, and it should be about more than passing on information in a lecture hall. For a large number of learners, discussions that are informal, office hours meetings, and first hand experiences are the most influential lessons. As an educator in my field, I possess the chance to obtain new knowledge based on the needs of my students and conversations with colleagues.
