I have been tutoring Spanish to students and professionals for the past 8 years. I have also been a Spanish interpreter for 4 years, and specifically a Spanish interpreter in the medical field for the past 2 years. I have studied Spanish here in the U.S. and abroad and I have written articles and op-eds for El Diario/La Prensa NY, the major Spanish language daily in NYC I am not a native Spanish speaker, but rather a non-native with native level fluency who knows BOTH languages very well and can explain the nuances and differences very well. I have also traveled to Argentina and to Spain and can draw on that cultural immersion to add another facet to my Spanish tutoring. My tutoring style/philosophy is all about practicality and relevancy. Basically, I operate under the premise that language is about practical expression. To me, it's pointless to learn the grammar and THEORY, but never APPLY it to real life situations. So, wherever possible I always endeavor to involve the students' interests (because we learn faster and retain more when we're INTERESTED in what we learn) and mix in my punny sense of humor. Finally, I LOVE Spanish. Plain and simple. The textures, the nuances, and the intricacies of the language get my juices flowing. Love to watch and play basketball. I love all types of music especially salsa, bachata, merengue and top 40. I love to learn about the world and I love languages and their different expressions. Oh, and there's nothing quite like a good pun.
