I started working with languages in my native Venezuela and quickly realized that (1) I loved them and (2) found traditional language lessons boring, so I decided to find a better way. Using a combination of teaching techniques and tips and tricks I picked up while learning English, French and Portuguese, I tutor languages through stuff you actually care about. The main idea behind my approach is that, by touching on the topics that are closest to your passions and interests and customizing our meetings around them, you’ll learn way better and way faster. Learning is not only about getting information but also – and in many cases, mostly – about proper management of your motivation to learn. My tutoring will not only give you the language but also plenty of tools to continue your learning experience beyond our meetings. You’ll also get “Teach Yourself a Language” for free with our first lesson, an ebook based on my approach to self-taught language learning. Most of my learning techniques are outlined there and will serve as a complement to our lessons or as very comprehensive guide to continue on your own. I’m offering a “Luis just moved to NYC” new student deal: on top of giving you my ebook, our first 4 meetings will be only $25 each instead of the $40 I usually charge. (No catch – you don’t need to take 4 lessons.)

Hobbies
I split my time between music and languages. I work a lot as a composer, producer and guitar player. Traveling is my other passion - I spend a couple months every year at it and it's always an amazing experience. Aside form that, there's coffee, outdoor activities and comedy, which I love in equal parts.
