I have a BS in English Literature, with a minor in Economics, from the University of Colorado. I am now pursuing a master's in Public Administration at Columbia University. I have a special interest in writing, reading, and history. It is my belief that these are the foundation of any subject, and unless or until they are mastered in some form, the rest of learning will be difficult.My tutoring experience comes from working with students and teachers at a school in Africa that I also helped to start. My approach to tutoring middle school and high school students is to first understand how they learn and then develop on those strengths to not only get through the material, but also retain and appropriately utilize it. Subjects I would enjoy tutoring include writing, essays, US history, African history, geography, economics, and microeconomics.Outside of academics, my interests are in reading (everything from classical literature to historical biographies and economic textbooks), traveling, skiing, snowboarding, and rock climbing. In addition, I am very interested in issues that involve global poverty and Africa.
