Private tutor in Brooklyn, NY
Cornell University - BA, Philosophy and History
I am a tutor of elementary math, algebra, geometry, statistics, and pre-calculus while English, persuasive writing, science, history, and philosophy are also subjects I am proficient at. When working one on one with students, I use Socratic dialogue, asking questions that serve to guide the person in understanding the topic. My path to teaching led me through Cornell University, where I earned philosophy and history degrees, graduating magna cum laude. For 2 years afterward, I was a consultant and helped build the Health Insurance Marketplace in Hawaii, and created a newsletter focused on current events.Next, I was a coach and mentor for analysts at a New York City start-up. The teaching part drew me in and I have found the skills I acquired translate to tutoring very well. While I plan to soon attend law school, I am enjoying being a tutor and teaching the skills and knowledge I have learned throughout my academic and professional journeys.I currently live in Brooklyn, New York. Outside of my work and helping students with their studies, I have many personal interests. I enjoy guitar and live music, traveling, and reading science fiction and history. Calisthenics, skiing, writing, and online education are others.
