Hello, I'm Vella. I am originally from Bulgaria, and currently located in Brooklyn, New York. I hold a bachelor's degree from New York University in New York City, where I studied Spanish language with particular emphasis in Latin American and Spanish culture and literature. I now attend The City University of New York's Hunter College where I am working toward my master's degree in history with a Latin American focus. For my thesis, I am researching cultural reforms in post-revolutionary Cuba.As an undergraduate, I gained experience tutoring junior and senior high school students. I worked for a year at NYU's Child and Family Policy Center with preschool and early elementary children in a school readiness program. I enjoy traveling and learning, and have been fortunate enough to study abroad in Spain and attend an archaeological dig in Bulgaria. My interests and hobbies include reading, particularly about history, writing, running, cooking, watching movies, following current events, and learning languages.I believe that education is important and empowering for children of all ages. I love working with students on writing essays because it is rewarding to assist them in developing such a valuable and useful life skill. I tutor students in many subject areas, such as reading, writing, essay editing, phonics, literature, grammar and mechanics, college essays, American and European history, English, social studies, and test preparation including PSAT, SAT, SHSAT, Regents, GRE, and AP.
