Experience
Working as a tutor in a one-on-one setting is my favorite way to teach. I have seen students fall through the cracks in a group setting, so to be able to focus on one student and give him or her my full attention is important to me. I feel students grasp and maintain the subject material better, and are able to build a better foundation of learning. My goals when tutoring others are to develop the student's confidence, try to find new challenges for him or her, build on what the student already knows, and teach the student not to be afraid to try new things.I have a long history of working both in classrooms and in the private sector. I graduated magna cum laude from Brooklyn College with a double major in political science and history with a minor in art. I continued my education in the pre-med program, which gave me extensive experience in the sciences. After spending a year in dental school at NYU, I shifted gears completely. I worked in publishing, proofreading, editing, graphic design, and served as an editorial assistant, all of which fulfilled my passions for English and comparative literature. I also have a passion for art, and have found success in this field as well. I have won art contests, have had my work displayed in shows, and have created pieces that are site-specific in Brooklyn.Beyond pursuing my passions for art and English, I enjoy exercising, being with my friends and family, and reading.
