Experience
For the past six years I have been actively involved with the non-profit organization 826NYC. I've tutored countless students ranging in grade level from kindergarten to high school seniors, in topics as diverse as algebra, social studies, SAT prep and writing. I have also worked as a mentor to individual students at the center, helping them to brainstorm and successfully complete their college application essays, and have helped to lead in-school memoir writing workshops at high schools around Brooklyn. My experiences with 826NYC have left me with a dedication to tutoring and mentoring. Watching a child gain confidence as he or she accomplishes tasks that once appeared nearly impossible is a particularly gratifying process. Not only do I feel satisfied when I've successfully helped a student overcome learning obstacles, but I also know that this is something that will indefinitely benefit each child I've work with throughout their lives. Helping a young person to live a fuller life with fewer hurdles allows him or her to become a more responsible citizen who can carefully analyze the world and contribute in an invaluable way.
