Experience

I chose to become a teacher for three reasons. The first reason stems from my own personal love of knowledge. I have always enjoyed exploring books and classroom material until I find what interests or challenges me. As a teacher, I want to pass this love of knowledge on to my students. My second reason for becoming a teacher is that I enjoy opening my student's eyes to their true potential. Many teachers throughout my academic career have done this for me, and so I feel it is my duty to show students that they are capable of whatever they set out to do. My third reason is that teaching is always unpredictable. Whether I am planning or teaching lessons, I find that there are endless challenges to face, and obstacles to overcome for both myself and my students. I have taught math and science to middle and high school students for 8 years. Throughout my teaching career, many of my students have come to me requesting private help. I have a B.A. from Michigan State in women's studies and American history, and an M.S. from Brooklyn College in math education. My goal is to help create respectable scholars that feel a sense of mastery over the subjects that interest them. My hobbies include playing sports, swimming, dancing, and yoga.
