Private tutor in Brooklyn, NY

CUNY Brooklyn College - BA, Spanish and English , CUNY Brooklyn College - MA, Spanish

I am a tutor with extensive experience studying and teaching Spanish. I am originally from Peru, and I came to the United States in the 1980's. When I arrived in the United States, I did not know any English. I took classes in English and eventually learned enough to attend college. I graduated from Brooklyn College with a bachelor's degree in Spanish and later completed a master's degree as well. During my time at college, I helped tutor my classmates. After I graduated, I became a substitute Spanish teacher before being hired full time. In addition to my career as a Spanish teacher, I continue to tutor students as well. I am comfortable tutoring students in Spanish at all levels. There is one student in particular that I have been able to help a great deal. She is originally from Russia, but due to our tutoring sessions, she speaks Spanish so well that her high school teacher thought that she was a native Spanish speaker. I also use my experience as an immigrant to teach my students about how important it is to get a college degree. A college degree is their way to freedom. In my free time, I enjoy doing yoga, spending time with my children, and reading books.
