Experience
I received a Bachelor of Arts in English, with magna cum laude honors, from Harvard University. I also hold an Master of Arts in The Writing Seminars at Johns Hopkins and worked towards a PhD in English at Berkeley. I've also earned an MFA in Nonfiction Writing at Goucher College. My entire career has focused on teaching college-level essay writing, creative writing, and academic writing. I've taught writing, both essays and academic writing, at Johns Hopkins and at George Washington University. But don't think that I sit in stuffy rooms all day reading and writing. I also managed to combine my love of writing and travel by backpacking throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, as I wrote about my travels and adventures. I teach GRE, PCAT and SAT test prep, literature, and many genres of creative writing. What I like best about teaching is identifying a student's learning challenges so that I can create a lesson plan with a focus on strong areas and student interests. I love to see my students reach their goals and succeed. At the moment, I am writing book about my Middle Eastern adventures. In my spare time, I love to hike, camp, swim, and cook.
