I earned a bachelor's at Oakland University in English. I continued my education at Teachers College, Columbia University where I received a master's in Teaching English. With a decade of experience in teaching for a New York City Public School, I am very dedicated and knowledgeable. I am a certified English teacher. I believe the best approach in teaching is to build a scaffold system to support students through an assignment. I accomplish this by creating a series of steps that lead up to the final assignment. When a student is given a series of smaller tasks, a less overwhelming environment is created. The process also allows students the time necessary to critically analyze the literature or material that is being presented for a more complete understanding. I work to build a connection to my students through my engaging and fun style of teaching. I have taught Regents Prep courses, which has given me experience with the English Language Arts Regents and the Common Core Regents material. I have worked online in the past with students residing in China. I am also fluent in speaking Russian. During my spare time, I like to explore NYC, play tennis, read, and travel.
