Experience
I want to be a tutor to achieve three goals: to have flexibility with the time I work, to earn an income, and most importantly, to serve my clients/students with the best quality supplement to their education. While I have never been a tutor (formally), I do bring a wealth of experience that would benefit the student. As follows: 2006-2011: I worked with NYC Dept. of Education with students with autism. Working with them taught me to adapt academic material to meet the functional needs of each student. And: my students taught me patience. 2007-2010: I attended Hunter College to develop my writing skills. I received an excellent education there and can help anyone develop their writing skills in a similar manner that my professors helped me: by teaching the skills to self correct. 2011-2014: In law school, I successfully completed a number of courses, each of which is listed above. I can offer students specific comments and help with how professors think and what is expected in a writing sample or a law school exam. 2014-: I've been editing the dissertation of a PhD candidate periodically over a few months. The candidate was a Math major for his Undergraduate and Graduate degrees so writing was not his forte. Nevertheless, with meticulous comments about planning his writing, organization of paragraphs, attention to detail, strategically focusing on certain topics, etc., he is developing a well written, higher quality dissertation than previously.
