I feel that a student begins to learn once they realize that they are capable of learning and have been given the confidence to do so. I provide these tools to the student through positive reinforcement, a patient demeanor, and also by respecting the student at all times. I have experience in preparing students for standardized tests like the SAT and the PSAT. I worked with many underprivileged students in SAT preparation and have found that I have an incredible amount of patience in working through the struggles that students often face in education. In addition to the preparing for the entrance tests, I am willing to help students in their college application process and to provide advice about college because it can be an intimidating or overwhelming process for many students. In addition to test prep, I am available to tutor American Government and Politics, European History, and World History. I completed my Bachelor of Art degree in African, Middle Eastern, and South Asian Studies at Columbia University. Outside of work, you can find me reading (graphic novels are a favorite), following current events, mountain biking, sailing, hiking, and enjoying the visual arts.
