Private tutor in Brooklyn, NY

Experience
I graduated from Harvard University with a bachelor's degree in African studies and sociology. During my time as an undergraduate student, I had the privilege doing a semester abroad in Accra, Ghana, where I was able to immerse myself in another culture. After receiving my bachelor's degree, I moved back to Ghana to work for a year before returning home and enrolling in a master's degree at Fordham University. I am currently working as a teacher in New York City while applying to various doctoral programs around the country. I have six years' experience teaching middle and high school students in the public school system in Brooklyn, as well as privately tutoring students in groups and in one-on-one sessions. My teaching experience has taught me that patience, compassion, and empathy are all essential skills for a teacher to have. Educators should try to see things from the student's point of view in order to help them overcome their unique challenges. I also believe that the best way to teach is to custom-tailor lessons so that they're designed specifically for the student and can help them build upon the strengths they already have. Along with teaching, I also enjoy dancing, practicing yoga, and learning new languages.
