University of Chicago - BA, Geography , University of British Columbia - MA, Geography
Teaching is one of the most rewarding pastimes for me. When one of my students makes a new discovery, I get a rush of excitement. I consider it an honor to be the person who is hired to help students achieve understanding and ultimately develop a healthy interest for the subject material. I gain the most fulfillment from teaching math. I encourage my students to view each math problem as a puzzle that can be solved with the right pieces. In addition to math, I also have tutoring experience in history, literature, and philosophy. More specifically, throughout my college career, I was a teaching assistant for many of my classes. I have also taught computer science in Bulgaria to high school children who were attending a summer camp. Lastly, I helped students improve their SAT math scores by teaching an SAT preparatory class. My educational background includes a BA from the University of Chicago as well as some course work toward a master's degree from the University of British Columbia. At both universities, I studied Geography. Most of my teaching experience occurred in Bulgaria. (After college, I had received a Fulbright grant to do research there.) My hobbies include reading, all outdoor activities, and traveling.
