Private tutor in Brooklyn, NY
University of Southern California - BA, Journalism
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Southern California. In addition to teaching I am a professional writer. My work was featured on Longform, which curates only the best journalism. I've traveled through more than 25 countries and worked for several years in Asia in order to explore my interest in geography, history, and foreign cultures.I have worked with students of all ages and abilities in small and large groups and on an individual basis. I have extensive experience teaching English to non native speakers and worked as an ESL instructor in Taiwan for a year. While I truly have enjoyed the wide variety of tutoring experiences I will admit I have a special love for teaching new readers. I've had great success with the Words Their Way program for teaching reading comprehension. Teaching someone to read is a unique and rewarding experience. While I am passionate about teaching students reading skills, I have extensive experience working in a variety of other subjects. Some of the courses I tutor include algebra 1 & 2, geometry, elementary math, middle school math, writing, essay writing and editing, phonics, literature, grammar and mechanics, American history and government, European and world history, arithmetic, anthropology, AP courses, geography, IB courses, philosophy, public speaking, religious studies, sociology, and social studies. When I am not tutoring I enjoy traveling, reading, cooking, and creative writing.
