I have a dual master's degree in Special Education and General Education from Hunter College, through the New York City Teaching Fellows Program. I currently teach sixth grade at Brooklyn School for Collaborative Studies in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. I have experience working with students at many different levels and abilities, and have taught and tutored in classrooms, small groups, and individually. I have a virtual toolbox full of techniques and approaches to use with my students, and it all starts with a foundation of trust and respect for my students, and trying to earn the same from them. My specialties are reading, phonics, English, grammar/mechanics, writing, history (American and world), literature, government, elementary and middle school math, test preparation, college essays, and social studies. I have experience with special education, and helping students become better organized with better study skills. I incorporate games and try to make sessions fun, but I do expect my students to put forth the effort needed to meet their goals.I live in Brooklyn, New York, and in my spare time I enjoy art, reading, and travel. I'm especially fond of spending time enjoying nature, and participating skiing and other outdoor activities.
