Private tutor in Brooklyn, NY

Education

Master's degree student at The New School. Researcher for faculty at Columbia University, CUNY and NYU. Freelance journalist, writer and editor covering themes of gender, race, political economy, literature, and language.

Experience

I have taught high school and undergraduate students since 2008. My GRE score: 162 on the verbal section and 153 on the quantitative section. I am a Brooklyn-residing graduate student in critical media studies at The New School. I have been a journalist, teacher and academic researcher since 2007 while working in the geo-political contexts of South Asia, North America and The Gulf States. I began teaching high school in 2008 and undergraduate in 2014. My work has appeared in The New York Times, The Huffington Post, Der Speigel International, Jadaliyya, Al Jazeera, etc. In 2011, I gave a TED talk on pedagogy and the inculcation of art for progressive education. In the very same year, International Herald Tribune and in 2010, Guernica Magazine named me one of the best socio-cultural scholars for my analyses and reportage on the themes of literature, writing, ethnicity, feminism, and art. This introduction, I believe, is essential in providing you a gist of my past as a researcher, writer and teacher. I've worked as a journalist for The Nation since 2012, and have also conducted freelance reporting and research for magazines like GOOD and publications like Dawn and Express Tribune. My past as a researcher for faculty at The New School, NYU, Columbia and CUNY enables me to pen down data in scholarly diction and various formats. I've helped students train for SAT and GRE since 2012. If required, I can also assist students in advanced academic writing while also helping younger pupils with their elementary and middle-school education. I was responsible for raising $10,000 for Tanqeed in 2012 and exceeded our goal by a few thousands before we even reached our deadline in December of that year. My command over seven languages gives me an advantage over others in selection of vernacular, grammar, transcription, translation, and more. As you can tell, I am as much as a teacher as I am a student with a voracious appetite for knowledge and imparting it.
