Ariel M.
Private tutor in Brooklyn, NY
Education
Joint major in Sociology and Political Studies with a minor in Gender and Sexuality Studies from Bard College, 2014
Experience
I graduated magna cum laude from high school in San Antonio, TX in 2010 and immediately enrolled at Bard College where I completed a joint major and minor, ultimately culminating in a 70+ thesis that I had to present and defend in order to graduate. Scored a 2010 on the SATs in 2009. I want to be a tutor because I love teaching and find tutoring to be a more effective method of learning for me, personally. Throughout high school, I went to various math tutors as I'm way more social science minded, so I completely understand how helpful and necessary they can be to a student's success in school. I love the one-on-one set up of tutoring, because I feel like you can completely tailor a lesson or a way to describe something to fit each unique student's needs, which can be lost in the classroom. In the summers during high school, I was an assistant teacher at the Children's School of Science in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, which I absolutely loved, and would love to get back into teaching and educating youths.

Hobbies
I'm an avid reader who recently got a kindle, so if you ever see me on the train, I'll probably be reading on that. I also am a writer-- experimenting a bit with my 'voice' after being in academia for so long. I love arts and crafts, mostly knitting, embroidering, beading and anything involving a glue gun. I also play guitar/sing and like running and yoga.
