Experience

My life-long love of words has informed my work as a tutor, editor, writer, and actor. My significant experience in communications, writing, and review has prepared me to work with a diverse range of clients in order to improve their writing and analytical skills. During my time at Dartmouth, I worked as a tutor and writing assistant in the Dartmouth Student Center for Research, Writing, and Information Technology (RWIT). At RWIT, I held regular one-on-one sessions with clients, helping them to communicate their thoughts and analysis through their writing with strength and coherence. I edited everything from science writing to research analysis to creative writing. I also communicated with professors to elucidate their vision for the essays assigned to the students. At Dartmouth, I received High Honors for my work as a Senior Fellow—a competitive fellowship in which I developed a one-woman play constructed from interviews that I conducted, transcribed, and edited myself. This fall in New York City, I worked as an Administrative Intern at Clarion Books, where I read and evaluated submitted manuscripts for children’s books and young adult novels. Through my passion and pursuit of theater, I have fostered an appreciation and love of the power of words and literature. In 2009, I won the first place prize in the English-Speaking Union's (ESU) National Shakespeare competition and in the spring of 2012 the ESU submitted me as the North American Representative in their Global Public Speaking competition. I have always a particular passion for college essays. While interning for the Atlantic Theater Company, I created and engineered an essay workshop for the youth enrolled in Staging Success—an arts education program run by the theater. I held sessions to review college essay strategies with the teens and I edited individual essays on my own time. I wrote several essays when applying to colleges in high school, and I was accepted at Harvard University, Brown University, Middlebury College, UCLA, and Georgetown University, in addition to Dartmouth College. I believe that a college essay, when written well, can be a beautiful and unique expression of an individual’s humanity and I am passionate about helping students that ideal. Due to my experience in the theater, I am also uniquely qualified to assist with theater-related writing and to provide coaching in public speaking. I live in Brooklyn—about a five-minute ride out of Manhattan, but I am happy to come to you for sessions. I have a 24-hour cancellation policy, but I will always do my best to make up a meeting as soon as possible to the original time. I am excited to work with you to help you craft the best work you can make!
