Private tutor in Brooklyn, NY
Education
Columbia University - Masters in International Affairs with 3.82 GPA - 2009 University of Toronto - Computer and Electrical Engineering with Honours - 2004
Experience
I am a Computer/Electrical Engineer who earned an Honors degree from the U of Toronto, and later a Masters in International Affairs from Columbia University, looking to tutor on the side while starting my own manufacturing business. In engineering I graduated in the top 10% of my class - earning an honors degree - and after working as a software engineer I completed my MIA, taking advanced economic development and statistics. I specialize in tutoring elementary and high school math and science (especially physics and inorganic chemistry). I most recently managed to teach a 16 year old quantum physics on the phone (including a foundational knowledge of why the energy levels don't always get filled in order!) I have worked as a teacher of engineering concepts to grade school and high school, as high school education director I developed and taught students about technology in international development, and I have volunteered as a mentor for middle-school children. I am completely flexible on time and location - I live in Prospect Heights and am in my early 30s. I have also worked as a journalist in public radio, and am the founder and Editor-in-Chief of a literary magazine, so I can help out with creative writing if needed as well! I really believe that a good education should be available to everyone, so to the extent that my own circumstances allow, I will try to work with people to accommodate their financial needs. I have limited weekly time slots available, so please do e-mail me for more information or an interview.
